Gia Anansi-Shakur is a writer and multimedia artist based in Harlem, NY. Her poetry has been featured in Honey Literary, Brown Sugar Literary Magazine, Gutter Mag : Green Issue, Foglifter 5.1 and 6.2, Rigorous Magazine, Sinister Wisdom, Joint Literary Magazine, Broadkill Review and Grungecake. Her artwork has been featured at FiveMyles Gallery, Naori House, Home2Harlem Gallery and has work forthcoming from the Barnard Zine Club. She is the founder of Alligators, Bibles and Hussies, a rigorous program designed to nurture Black femme literary talents. She is an inaugural graduate fellow of The Watering Hole, an emerging arts fellow at the Artful Walls Gallery and co creative architect for The Revival of the Seers. She’s currently enrolled in the Creative Writing program at SUNY Purchase.
